Chartered Sept. 27 1922 to meet every two weeks. Met in
the Monroe Hotel,
Thursday Nights until the hotel closed around 1960. Built
the Kiwanis Football
Field for Monroe High School around 1940. Had a talent
show with all the members
participating in the late fifties, which was a big success.
Has had an annual
pancake supper for over fifty years. Had Monroe's first
Horse Show in 1965 and
for
the next two years. Had a barbeque for the new teachers
for several years.
Started the Carson- Shores Scholarship in honor of two
long time Kiwanis
Members. Has sponsored Boy Scout Troop 81 for more than 50
years. Is Monroe's
oldest Civic Club. Still very active in the community with 35
members.
